OUR STAFF
Our staff consists of five therapists, a Program
Assistant, and a HighRock Youth Ministries’ Director. Each therapist has a
Master's degree in a counselling related field. Three therapists are registered
members of the Nova Scotia Association of Social Workers and one is a member of
the Canadian Counseling Association. All staff are accountable to the Board of
Directors.
Brian
Schrock, MSW, RSW, Director
Brian has been with Christian Counselling Ministries since its opening in March
of 1994. He brings experience in the Mental Health field, child protective
services, and marriage and family therapy. He graduated from Bryn Mawr College,
Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, with a Master's in Social Work. He is registered for the
Private Practice of Social Work with the Nova Scotia Association of Social
Workers.
Paula
Weaver, MSW, RSW, Therapist
Paula has been with Christian Counselling Ministries since it opened in March
1994. She brings experience in child protective services, addictions, and family
counselling. She graduated from Smith College, in Northampton, Massachusetts,
with a Master's in Clinical Social Work. Paula is registered for the Private
Practice of Social Work through the Nova Scotia Association of Social
Workers.
Tammie
Thorne, MThSc, CCC, Therapist
Tammie has been counselling with Christian Counselling Ministries since May of
2001. She graduated with a Master's of Theological Studies in Counselling from
Canadian Baptist Seminary in Langly, British Columbia. Since graduating she has
counseled for both Christian and secular organizations. She has a strong
background in the field of alcohol and drug addictions. Tammie’s desire is
to reflect Christ’s love to those she counsels. She and her family
currently live in Truro, Nova Scotia.
Tanis
Leach, MSW, RSW, Therapist
Tanis joined Christian Counselling Ministries in December 2005 and works out of
the Sackville office serving the HRM, opening in January 2006. Tanis graduated
from Robert's Wesleyan College, Rochester, New York with a Master's degree in
Social Work with a clinical focus working with children, adolescents and
families. She has experience in child protective services, missions, School and
Church Social work and has counselled in both secular and Christian
Organizations. Tanis's desire is to use her skills while demonstrating Christ's
love to assist individuals and families in becoming empowered, restored and
healed so that they can live complete, healthy and whole lives. Tanis is
registered with the Nova Scotia Association of Social Work. Originally from
Orangeville, Ontario, she and her family currently reside in Lower Scakville,
Nova Scotia.
Janice
Michels, MA, M Ad Ed, Counsellor
Janice joined Christian Counselling Ministries in March 2007. Janice graduated
with a Masters in biblical Counselling from Providence Seminary in Manitoba. She
then counselled with the Winnipeg Christian Counselling Group before moving to
Nova Scotia with her husband. She set up Covenant Counselling through which she
practiced individual, marriage and family counselling and taught a number of
workshops. She is returning to the counselling field after a leave to raise her
children. She will be working primarily out of the Lower Sackville office.
Pamela
Vokey, MA, CoP
Pam holds a Masters of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Providence
Theological Seminary. She has experience working with children, adolescents and
teens, as well as people with challenging needs. Pam also has a strong background
in the areas of domestic violence, couple communication and marital therapy. Pam
is a member of the Professional Association of Canadian Christian
Counsellors.
Crystal Crossan,
HighRock Youth Ministries Director
Crystal joined Christian Counselling Ministries as our HighRock Youth Ministries
Director in December of 2006. She received a diploma from the Nova Scotia
Community College in Human Services - Child and Youth At Risk. Crystal’s
life passion is to see young people know Jesus and have their lives healed by
Him.
Margaret Hinton,
Program Assistant
Margaret is a graduate of Universite Ste. Anne, Church Point, Nova Scotia with a
diploma in Bilingual Secretarial Sciences. Margaret also volunteers in her Church
and various Community Organizations.
